RESOURCE ST. PETERSBURG: NEW BUSINESS INFORMATION CENTER OPENS IN NEW YORK

The first St. Petersburg Business Information Center in the United States has opened in the premises of the Council for Trade and Economic Cooperation USA-CIS in New York.  The opening of the Center reflects the new prominence St. Petersburg has acquired over the past few years, and the growing interest in potential opportunities found in St. Petersburg on behalf of the American business community.

The Center's mission is to facilitate greater economic cooperation between the United States and St. Petersburg, to provide solid reliable information about the business environment and opportunities in St. Petersburg, to coordinate exchange of experience and best practices in municipal governing, to assist and coordinate business, cultural, tourism and charity projects and programs, and advise on all other activities which promote the city of St. Petersburg in the United States.

"The framework we want to create is one of partnership, multifaceted cooperation between the two "second capitals" of two of the world’s largest countries," said Veronika Krasheninnikova, Representative of the city of St. Petersburg in the United States and CTEC's President.  "Both St. Petersburg and New York are major business, cultural and intellectual centers, leading destinations for tourism. This Center will serve as a platform for implementing specific projects as well as creating the general positive, informed environment for bilateral projects to flourish," she continued.

St. Petersburg, the most western and the most progressive region in Russia aims to serve as an example for what fruitful cooperation with the United States can accomplish. Since 1993, CTEC has actively worked to advance economic relations between the United States and Russia, with the emphasis on direct interaction with Russia's regions.  CTEC's mission is to assist Russian and Western companies in developing and implementing trade and investment strategies, and to create favorable conditions for collaboration and cooperation.
