Domestic and Foreign Policy Challenges in Medvedev's Russia
Veronika Krasheninnikova
Monday 3rd March 2008
2:00-3:30pm
In his last annual press conference as President, Vladimir Putin stressed the continuity aspects of his relationship with successor Dmitri Medvedev. Yet, if Medvedev sticks to previously expressed positions, he is likely to oppose several measures (particularly in the economic sphere) currently under discussion. The first few months should reveal the limits of Medvedev's influence over decision-making as he faces difficult challenges in domestic and foreign policy.
This seminar, on the first working day after Russia's presidential election, will provide insight into Russia under Medvedev from a well respected representative of Russia, based in the West.
Ms Krasheninnikova will speak from the outset for approximately 20 minutes. The remainder of the time will be devoted to questions and discussion.
